Products I go out of my way to buy as a holistic nutritionist

One thing I've become increasingly aware of after working in the wellness industry for years is how difficult it is to know who to trust.

Every wellness brand seems to use the same words these days. Things like natural, ethical, sustainable, premium, science-backed. But saying the right things and actually doing the right things are very different.

I've seen brands preach health and tell you to be wary of reading labels, while having products with unnecessary ingredients. I've seen brands talk about sustainability while cutting corners elsewhere. I've seen marketing teams make claims that don't actually match the product benefits or the level of quality, because they know you don't know.

That's why I pay attention to the details. Not just what's on the front of the label, but where ingredients come from, how they're processed, the company's values, the way they market, and whether their actions actually align with what they claim.

The products I use most often aren't necessarily the ones going viral or have the biggest marketing budget. They're the ones made by people who genuinely care about quality and integrity. In a world where everyone is telling you they're the good guys, I think integrity is shown through actions, not marketing.

That's why I choose Cell Squared, and I'm proud to be associated with them. They have an extremely high level of integrity and the owners actually care about their customers' health. As an example, when we create content together, they are very cautious not to over-claim benefits, unlike many others in the same space. I want to see the good guys in this space win.

Here's a look at the products I use and why:

Beef Spleen & Liver

This is basically my food version of a multivitamin. I take it for the highly bioavailable heme iron, B vitamins, bioavailable vitamin A (ingesting my retinol) and other nutrients that support energy, skin, hair and nails. Sourced from 100% grass-fed and finished organic Australian beef and independently third-party tested, which is super important. I've been taking these for years.

Beef Liver

I take this when I don't need the extra iron from the spleen. It's one of the most nutrient-dense foods on the planet and an easy way to top up vitamin A, B vitamins and other nutrients without actually eating liver (I just can't do it!). My friend started taking this recently and said for the first time in her adult life she no longer needs to nap during the day.

Beef Kidney

Beef kidney is naturally rich in selenium, which is important for thyroid health, immunity and hair and nails, plus vitamin B2 and B12 for energy, immunity and skin function.

Grass-Fed Ghee

I cook with this every day. It has a high smoke point, tastes amazing and is naturally rich in fat-soluble vitamins and butyrate, which is good for your gut barrier and anti-inflammatory. As someone who's lactose intolerant, I have no issues with ghee. The majority of lactose and milk proteins (casein and whey) are removed, so I also don't break out like I do with most dairy.

Bentonite Clay

This product is pretty versatile. I mix it with honey for a DIY face mask when my skin feels congested or needs a reset, mix it with apple cider vinegar and use it as an underarm detox, and add it to a bath. It's also something often used in detox and wellness protocols under the guidance of a professional. This one is heavy metal tested, with no additives or anti-caking agents.

Sea Salt Flakes

I add this to all my meals. I love that it's sourced from pristine Australian waters using a traditional panning process to retain trace minerals, and doesn't contain fillers or anti-caking agents like many common table salts.

Bicarb Soda

Another versatile product. Good for baking, natural cleaning, deodorising, bath soaks for irritated skin (eczema and psoriasis), freshening drains and general household jobs. Most supermarket bicarb is synthetically produced and can contain aluminium-based anti-caking agents. This one is 100% natural and aluminium-free.
